This is an introductory workshop in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and is open to anyone interested in learning the fundamentals of TCM, acupuncture and herbal medicine with a focus in meridian pathways and yoga poses.
Topics of discussion will include:
-A brief history of Chinese medicine and how it traveled to western countries.
-Introduction to the fundamentals of TCM, such as yin and yang, qi, and elemental theory.
-Introduction to pulse and tongue diagnosis.
-Introduction to techniques used for treatment, such as cupping, acupuncture, and herbal medicine.
-Pathways of meridians and how they relate to the anatomy and yoga poses.
About the instructor: Dr. Tyler is a graduate of the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ACTCM) where he received a Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. As well, he completed a three year program in Western herbal medicine at the Berkeley Herbal Center, and has completed 500 hours of yoga teacher training. With over 20 years of holistic medicine experience, Tyler works with both adults and youth with specialization in neurological conditions, acute and chronic pain management, as well as internal medicine and stress. Tyler’s understanding of health and medicine is rooted in Chinese medicine and healing practices that take into account the individual as a whole, the community, and the environment.
